Any 6’9” player for the L.A. Lakers would stand out in a crowd. But A.C. Green stands out, even among his fellow players. Some of his most recent accomplishments are being a member of the 2000 Lakers championship team, and starting in all six games of last season’s finals, plus his “Iron Man” title for appearing in 1,054 consecutive games. >>> But what really distinguishes him from all the rest is his love for Jesus Christ and for others. “I firmly believe that my position as an NBA star is a platform from which to be heard, and a vehicle to help young people,” says Green. >>> Along with basketball, he enjoys bowling, baseball, golf and eating frozen yogurt. “My passions go far beyond professional basketball,” says Green. One area that A.C. is particularly passionate about is abstinence. Watch the games, and you may see him carrying a green teddy bear, or see the bear sitting on the sidelines. This is the “AC” (Abstinence Committed) Bear. With the initials A.C. on the front, and his foundation’s colorful “I’ve Got The Power” abstinence logo on the back, the bear is just one of many ways that A.C. Green uses to tell people that saving sex for marriage is the way to go. >>> By the way, the initials A.C., like his father’s, do not stand for full names—his name is simply A.C. Green Jr.
